WTUL 91.5 FM and Uncle Chris Present:

Where do I find all this music?

I literally search the world over for music for our kids. I have music from the UK, Australia, Canada, Brazil, Spain, Hong Kong, and of course the USA. I think it's important to explore what music is to children in other parts of the world as well as our own domestic offerings. I search the net, children's magazines, festivals, and anything else I can looking for new music. And I write to the artist and request their CD.

The majority of my collection is from independent artists, though some of these are now making it to the "big time" in music for kids (national recognition). With the exception of music I purchase all the music you hear is donated by the artist to our station. WTUL is community non-profit radio. Though I do have some music that is from the Disney, Sony, etc labels, this is music that I have bought for the show.

The reasons I have so little mainstream music are twofold. First, I want to expose you (the adult) and your children to music you won't hear over and over again on the typical "kids station". I don't avoid the mainstream, but it's hard to come by. The "big guys" don't see a need to send their material to the show. Or maybe I just have the wrong contact info for all of them.

The Kids Show is a production of WTUL 91.5 FM, the radio station of Tulane University. Go Green Wave!
